Description
In 1936 Cadillac introduced the Series 60 as a smaller and less expensive model to compete with the Packard 120 in the medium priced class. Just like the Series 75, it featured a newly designed monoblock engine which displaced 322 cubic-inches and produced 125 horsepower. It also had GM’s new ‘Unisteel’ Turret Top, front-hinged doors, hydraulic brakes, a narrow vertical grille, bullet headlights and pontoon fenders. Production continued until 1938, when it was replaced by the 60 Special, which was produced until 1941.
The Cadillac Series 60 models rode a new 121-inch wheelbase and were smaller and less expensive than their immediate predecessors.
The Series 60 was an important model for Cadillac, because it continued its proud tradition of stylish bodies with exceptional performance. The Great Depression was the cause of many automobile manufacturers being forced into bankruptcy. Fortunately, the Series 60 helped carry Cadillac through a rough time in history.
Our 1936 Cadillac V8 Series 60 Business Coupe has the optional dual side-mounted spare tires and is believed to be one of only three 1936 Cadillac Business Coupes still in existence. It is painted in bright black and fitted with a red leather interior.
We imported the car to Austria in 2014. It underwent an extensive mechanical overhaul to make it ready for vintage rallyes accross the Austrian Alps.
We participated succesfully at rallyes like the famous Austrian Ennstal-Classic in 2016 and 2017.
